ABOUT THE ACADEMY

At the Chau Gah Kung Fu Academy, you will learn the complete art of traditional kung fu as it has been passed down through the generations in Master Chau’s family. The academy will instruct you to ensure that you reach all your martial arts goals—whether they may be self-defense, full-contact fighting, martial art forms, weapons training, total body conditioning, meditation, and healing arts.


The Academy curriculum includes an extensive total body conditioning and stretching program. Chau Gah Kung Fu uses flexibility and muscular relaxation to achieve maximum power. You will see the results of your training very quickly, as Chau Gah training promotes a lean physical appearance with strong muscles and tendons.


The academy workout routine includes many different kicking and punching techniques, arm and leg conditioning routines using practice pads, over 100 empty hand and weapons forms, free sparring, and chi kung (气功) meditation methods. In addition to martial arts training, the academy will educate you in Chinese concepts such as ying and yang (阴阳), wu ji (无极), and bagua (八卦), all of which relate not only to fighting and strategy, but also to health and life practices in general. As a student of the Chau Gah Kung Fu Academy, you will gain a knowledge of martial arts that will last a lifetime.

ABOUT THE LINEAGE

Master Chau’s family has been in the forefront of Chinese martial arts since the middle of the Qing dynasty.

Chau Tai (鄒泰), Master Chau’s great grandfather, known as one of the Ten Tigers of Canton (广东十虎之一), developed, and passed down a unique and extremely powerful staff fighting art (鄒家八卦棍). This, plus empty hand forms have been preserved through the generations and now can resurface during the teachings in Chau Gah Kung Fu Academy.
